Gert Schalkwyk, a former PSL player and coach, along with a team of professional business owners, has launched the "Gert Schalkwyk Foundation." The foundation aims to revive the sporting culture in townships and rural areas for both privileged and underprivileged youth and promote active participation from all. Its primary objective is to combat drug abuse and provide a platform for undiscovered talents to shine. While not all young athletes may become professional sportspeople, our events will shift the focus of youth away from the negative influences in their communities.

However, this is no easy feat, and we recognize that it will take time to realize our vision. We are operating with whatever resources are currently available and seeking ongoing support from individuals and companies who are able to help. We believe that with your support, we can make a significant impact and provide opportunities for talented individuals to pursue fulfilling careers.

We encourage our young people to be educated and pursue their sporting careers at the same time and with businesses being part of the movement, every event will expose them to more career paths and interests in life. With enough support from Gert Schalkwyk Foundation and yourself we can reach out to the individuals taking part in the events and motivate them through sponsorships that allow higher education and degree, the sporting arena is huge and have so many moving parts aside from playing, assistance is crucial in our townships and suburbs.   
The foundation was launched with a successful Easter weekend soccer tournament from 15th to 18th April 2022 and we had a lot of support from local businesses, community, outside companies, government and PSL Kaizer Chiefs football club supporting the movement. We hope to encourage more companies and individuals to join us.

In April 2022, the foundation kicked off with a prosperous Easter weekend soccer tournament and garnered significant backing from neighboring businesses, the community, and external entities that were aligned with the cause.

Although our donation request is not primarily focused on money, we welcome any contributions you may be able to make, such as sporting equipment or services that can enhance the overall experience of the boys and girls participating in our events and leagues.
